1/6 6 months ago, I was fed up with getting buried on launch day without knowing how much real traffic you got. Instead of complaining, I decided to build a fix for founders & indie makers. Today, we're launching Hauntboard publicly. Here are the numbers, the stack, and everything we learned building it 🧵👇
2/6 The Problem: Every day, founders & indie makers spend hours dealing with getting buried on launch day without knowing how much real traffic you got. Existing tools are either overpriced, full of bloat, or lock you into yearly contracts with zero traffic transparency.
3/6 What We Built: Enter Hauntboard. Instead of building another bloated dashboard, we focused 100% on: 7 days in New this week with verified public visits and a dofollow link. Fast, lightweight, and built directly for your workflow.
4/6 The 3 Core Features: ⚡ Instant Setup: Get running in under 2 minutes 📊 Transparent Metrics: Real public views & clicks 🎯 Clean Workflow: Zero dark patterns, no lock-in
5/6 The Tech Stack: • Next.js 15 App Router & React 19 • TypeScript + Tailwind CSS • Convex real-time reactive database • Fully responsive & privacy-preserving
6/6 We're Live Today! 🚀 Try Hauntboard here: https://hauntboard.com We'd love your raw feedback: what should we add next? Any feedback in the replies means the world!
Anatomy of a High-Converting Launch Thread
The most successful indie hacker launches on X follow a consistent, narrative-driven structure:
- 1. The Hook: Make a bold, contrarian, or relatable statement that stops the scroll. Never start with “Introducing my new project…”.
- 2. The Agitation: Frame the specific pain point your target audience experiences every day.
- 3. The Solution: Show how your product solves it in plain English with minimal jargon.
- 4. The Proof & Stack: Share the numbers, tech stack (Next.js, TypeScript, Tailwind), or demo video.
- 5. The Call to Action: Invite honest feedback, ask a question, and link to your product and Hauntboard listing.
Common questions
- Why use threads instead of a single tweet for launches?
- Single tweets rarely convey enough context to drive conversions. A structured thread hooks interest in tweet 1, explains the core problem in tweet 2, breaks down the solution and tech stack, and leaves the link in the final tweet where the algorithm doesn't penalize it.
- How does the X character counter work?
- It adheres strictly to X's counting standard: standard Latin characters count as 1, emojis and special symbols count as 2, and any web URL counts as exactly 23 characters regardless of length.
- Where should I put the link to my startup?
- Put the link in the final tweet or the first reply. The X algorithm prioritizes native engagement and dwell time, so linking too early often suppresses initial reach.
